EWE Did It Again!

Geoff and Big Geoff had a special sailing bond from the very beginning. Though she’s not sure, Patsy thinks this shot was taken on Jet Stream in 1972.

Thanks to your generous gifts in honor of Geoff’s birthday (and in memory of his father, “Big Geoff,” who passed away the day after Geoff’s birthday), we just completed our second round of grantmaking! In total, EWE Spirit Foundation has now given $65,000 to five nonprofit organizations who provide relief to people in immediate need of support.

In this round, we added two new recipients, both based in Maryland:

  • The Light House is dedicated to solving the problem of homelessness by empowering people to transition toward employment, housing and self-sufficiency.

  • Starboard Society offers assistance to working families struggling with unforeseen crises, such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or loss of housing.

We’ll be posting stories about the great work these organizations are doing here on the website soon, alongside the existing stories of our other grant recipients — the MLK Center, the Center of Help and the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County.

This is just the beginning of the long, meaningful impact we hope to make on our world through the EWE Spirit Foundation. With today’s uncertainties of Covid, the economy and housing evictions, the need for our work right now is greater than ever. To stay up-to-date on our latest efforts, follow us on our website and our Facebook group page.

Thank you again for supporting the EWE Spirit community. I know we’re making Geoff proud!
